Week 4: Chair Detailed Examination

This chair is the classic dinner chair. I got this chair from the second hand OP shop. This chair has simple and lack of ornamentation. It would probably the one of the modernist chair. The back limb of the chair is the simple geometric spindle shaped. And the front limb is copy the same shape of the back limb. This chair is made up of timber structure. Over all proportion of the chair is bigger than normal dinning chair. It is bigger in width. Due to its proportion, it stands out from other furniture. This chair is cover up with sofa in some place. If it is compare with other chair, it seem to be have higher sitting level but in reality, it is the same due to it has softness of the base. When the user sits on the chair, it will go downwards a little bit and create the same level of sitting height with other dinning chair. The timber limbs are quite unique but the base of the chair is using leather. I might be probably fixed the base and also the structure. But still want to keep some proportions of the chair and some elements. The idea of my chair is going to break the elements of the chair and highlight it's original structure. My new chair would be cafe chair. The elements that I want to keep is the legs and back rest. Using the legs and  back rest create a new chairs.
